It's a new trend that the media has dubbed "recession adoptions." We all know that the state of the economy has caused people to postpone having children, but reports have surfaced that families have put their kids up for adoption because they are struggling with finances. USA today reported a story about a woman who wanted to keep her child, but had to give the baby up for adoption so a family with better financial stability could give the child a better life. the article also stated that adoption agencies have reported more inquires from women who became pregnant unplanned. A child can cost a family an estimate of $250,000. I don't judge the women who give up their children so they can have a better life, but I could never give up a child. I hope the people who do look into "recession adoptions" find peace with their decision.
